The Axe Of Kolt (FSF Adventures)
There are more twists and turns in this game than a snake who's swallowed a corkscrew!
You can't really you wrong with a Commando clone, although Blazing Thunder comes close to managing it.
Dizzy: Prince Of The YolkFolk (Codemasters)
An all-round good egg, but nothing amazing. The puzzles are of the usual standard and difficulty, and there's a magic carpet to be ridden.
Football Manager 3 (Addictive Games)
Some nice options screens, lots of stuff to fiddle around with, and a great big box. But crap highlights, dodgy control response, and all the players have stupid names. You'd still be better off looking for the prequel, or come to that, the first one!
The Hermitage (FSF Adventures)
Ambrose the Monk and his pilgrimage to the mountains of Vainmiomen where he's going to kill a hermit.
International Tennis (Zeppelin Games)
It's fast, it's furious and you can play it with a mate, or five.
Jimmy's Super League (Beyond Belief)
Nowhere near the giddy heights of all-time fave Tracksuit Manager, but pretty good fun all the same.
The Krazy Kartoonist Kaper/Grue-knapped (FSF Adventures)
Probably one of the funniest games of the last five years.
Kung-Fu Warriors (Beyond Belief)
The baddies who attack from behind stop at the middle of the screen... so if you keep moving you can avoid them. Fatal flaw or what?!
Magnetic Moon (FSF Adventures)
The twist in this game comes early on... You're not picked to join the assault team and so must prove your worth as a useful crew member.
A fun racer. If you didn't get it the first time round, then ignore the Neighbours tie-in and have a ride round the block with this. The theme tune's there too, in a simplified but groovy kinda way!
Doc Croc's Outrageous Adventures (Zeppelin Games)
The graphics are clear enough and the gameplay's pretty standard jump-onto-the platforms-and-avoid-the-nasties stuff. It's quite enjoyable, but it just doesn't have that something that really draws you into a game.
Run, Bronwynn, Run! (FSF Adventures)
You have an original quest to complete here - get out of a marriage, rather than the jaws of some toothy creature!
Santa's Xmas Caper (Zeppelin Games)
An appalling game. It leaves Duckula 2 standing (Santa's fun to play, y'see) it passes both Tilt and Shadow Of The Beast (it's action-packed and easy to handle), coming to rest just behind the legendary Friday The 13th.
Sidewinder II (Virgin/Mastertronic)
Easy to grasp and simple to play. It doesn't matter how old-fashioned games like this are, they're always fun.
The Spectre Of Castle Coris (FSF Adventures)
A superior quest that is a worthy follow up to The Axe Of Kolt.
Starship Quest (FSF Adventures)
The game begins more or less where the previous mission left off. You discover that there's more to the planet you've just been exploring than meets the eye and decide to return for another root around...
It's fast and it's pretty playable. Just don't expect another WEC LE Mans and you'll be all right.
