Daley Thompson's Super Test

This one even took the PR company by surprise! Rush released onto the pre-Xmas market, this sports simulation deserves much better.

Readers of this column will know I'm not a sports fan but this is so well thought out that it won me over. For once you don't even have to reach the qualifying score in order to move onto the next event.

The eight event game is divided into Pistol Shooting, Cycling, Spring Board Diving, Giant Slalom, Rowing, Penalties, Ski Jump and Tug O' War. A nice choice there with some unusual sports to attempt. As ever the keys get a good bashing but the game is a little more generous to you than is normal.

Graphics vary tremendously - the initial pistol range is nicely detailed but the cycle in the next event is atrocious. At times it looks as if different parts of the game were written by different people, although N C T Sheard is credited.

Sports fans will love this but I suspect that a lot more people will buy it and enjoy it too.

Is this the first BBC game with a black hero? About time.
