Super Invaders ============== Introduction ------------ You are being bombarded by waves of invading aliens. The only way to resist invasion and avoid subsequent annihilation is to destroy the aliens before they land. You have three Defenders, whose hyper-velocity missiles will instantly vaporise their target on impact. The Defenders can shelter from the onslaught behind four bastions, although even these cannot survive indefinitely. The alien attacks can vary in their ferocity. Sometimes, you may only have a "mild encounter"; alternatively, you may find yourself in an "uncomfortable situation", where a faster moving enemy releases a deadlier barrage of bombs. The worst is yet to come with the "terrifying experience", where, in addition to all the other hazards the bombs have a homing capacity and steer themselves towards your defender. The game includes high score, and is fully compatible with either keyboard or joysticks. The Game -------- Select your level of difficulty, choosing between: 1. A "mild encounter" - in which you fend off the aliens as best you can, shooting them with your missiles. 2. An "uncomfortable situation" - watch out for the reconnaissance ship since, if not destroyed, this can produce a force shield that guides the aliens and hastens their advance. 3. A "terrifying experience" - in addition to all the other hazards, the bombs have a homing capability and steer themselves towards your defender. Game Controls ------------- Z - Left, X - Right, RETURN - Fires missiles Joysticks --------- Either joystick can be selected by pressing its fire button whenever you are invited to press the Space Bar. At the end of a game, the Fire button can be used to return to the "level of difficulty" selection page. Pressing the Fire button here will start the game off keeping the previous level of difficulty. (If this is done before playing the first game, the level of difficulty is automatically set to "mild encounter"). You may use the keyboard controls having already selected Joystick control provided the Joystick in use is left with the stick in the centre position. Scores ------ An extra defender is obtained at 5,000 and 15,000 points. A missile is displayed below the line each time a complete wave of aliens is destroyed.
