Snooker (Visions) (Spectrum 16K/48K)
The precision and delicacy to place the cursor sign is probably equal to playing a game on a full size table but, with practice, you learn which shots are possible.
Chess (Psion/Mikro-Gen) (Spectrum 48K)
This program is surely one of the best programs available for the Spectrum.
Valhalla (Legend) (Spectrum 48K)
I really enjoyed this game and I think it is streets ahead of the available opposition.
Games Designer (Quicksilva) (Spectrum 48K)
I am very sure you will have lots of fun creating your own games. Games produced are very good and some may rival commercial software tapes.
Death Chase (Micromega) (Spectrum 16K)
A must for anyone wanting an extremely realistic 3D game which is also a challenge, and good value for money!
Reversi (Mine Of Information) (Spectrum 16K/48K)
The graphics are nothing to write home about but with a game like this it is difficult to see how you can have excellent graphics.
Rocketman (Software Farm) (Sinclair ZX81)
10 out of 10. The game is fast and the graphics, as expected from the Software Farm, are superb and free flowing.
Special Agent (Fiveways) (Spectrum 48K)
You can pause the game to work out messges.
Beta Basic (Betasoft) (Spectrum 16K/48K)
Colossal Adventure (Level 9 Computing) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
The fact that it is a text-only adventure may put some people off, but in my opinion the detailed description of locations are more realistic than graphical representations could ever be.
The Dungeon Master (Crystal) (Spectrum 48K)
I wouldn't recommend this to people who have absolutely no idea of how to play D&D because you will end up attacking a lot of monsters that will kill you. Otherwise, all fans of the cult will really enjoy this superb game.
German Vocabulary Test (Tutorial) (Spectrum 48K)
Good for a beginner, or perhaps for C. S. E. revision.
Escape (New Generation) (Spectrum 16K)
A very original and addictive game for the 16K Spectrum and one of the best that I have seen.
Johnny Reb (Lothlorien) (Spectrum 48K)
The game is very absorbing and I feel sure that your tactical strengths will be tested to the extreme whether you are playing the machine or a mere human opponent.
Backgammon (CP Software) (Spectrum 48K)
A fair representation of the real thing, although there are a couple of improvements that could be made.
Editor/Assembler (Picturesque) (Spectrum 16K/48K)
Superchess (CP Software) (Spectrum 48K)
This game would be even better if some of the faults were wiped out.
ZX Chess II (Artic) (Sinclair ZX81)
This program may be considered worthwhile to the serious chess-player, but is not worth the extra expertise for a beginner.
