Spy Vs. Spy (Seika) (Nintendo (US Version))
A classic two-player game packed with fun, cheeky laffs and a lot more besides.
Road Blasters (Mindscape International Inc) (Nintendo (US Version))
A run-of-the-mill conversion let down terribly because of the lack of variety and challenge.
720° (Mindscape) (Nintendo (US Version))
A solid, playable number that lacks the variety to make it a real winner.
Bubble Bobble (Taito) (Nintendo (US Version))
A very cute, and highly addictive, arcade conversion that'll keep you playing for ages! But be warned, it's a lot harder than the original coin-op.
Wrath Of The Black Manta (Taito) (Nintendo (US Version))
A reasonably fun Shinobi-style beat-'em-up. Unfortunately, in comparison, its graphics and sound are rather poor.
Columns (Sega) (Sega Master System (EU Version))
A brilliant Tetris variant with a variety of options and playability coming out of its ears.
E-SWAT: City Under Siege (Sega) (Sega Master System (EU Version))
A reasonably decent shoot em up, crying out for better graphics and sound.
Fire And Forget II (Titus) (Sega Master System (EU Version))
A graphically superb road racing shoot 'em up which offers plenty of speedy thrills and spills.
Strider (Sega) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
An absolutely cracking conversion that's identical to the coin-op in every way. An absolute must!
Space Harrier II (Sega) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
A slick and polished game. Unfortunately, whilst it looks amazing, it's rather dull to play.
Forgotten Worlds (Sega) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
A superb conversion - choose the Hard level and it's arcade perfect and loads of fun!
Populous (Electronic Arts) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
This game has earned a place in the chronicles of computer gaming for a good reason. It's stunning.
Budokan (Electronic Arts) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
Tough, addictive and difficult to master. A truly brilliant beat-'em-up.
Rambo III (Sega) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
All the fun and frolics of an abattoir with plenty of exciting and addictive action.
Zany Golf (Electronic Arts) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
Zany's the name and zany's the game! A great idea that hasn't quite got enough levels to make it outstanding.
Rainbow Islands (Taito) (Sega Mega Drive (JP Version))
A totally fabulous rendition of a classic coin-op that simply must be purchased!
Epyx Games (Epyx) (Amstrad CPC464+/GX4000)
Had loads of potential, but unfortunately this package leaves you wanted a lot more.
Fire And Forget II (Titus) (Amstrad CPC464+/GX4000)
The scrolling is jerky, the car moves and responds like a badly crippled slug, the road update is juddery and unconvincing, and most of the sprites look like marauding blue cabbages...! It's about as much fun as having your teeth pulled out.
Super Mario Land (Nintendo) (Game Boy)
They don't come much better than this... playability to the nth degree! This game is guaranteed a semi-permanent place in my Game Boy, along with Tetris, of course.
Tennis (Nintendo) (Game Boy)
Easily the best Tennis game available on any system. It's challenging, addictive and lets you play virtually any shot you could normally do with a racket. Highly recommended.
Alleyway (Nintendo) (Game Boy)
What a bore. Screen after screen of boring bricks to knock away, and hardly any variety. If this had a couple of power-ups, it might be okay.
Solar Striker (Nintendo) (Game Boy)
This shoot-'em-up is adequate in all respects, but lacks the excitement and thrills to make it a real winner.
