A superb business or home use filing and reporting system. Flexibility is its strength, making it usable in place of any card index application. Features include sort, search, list, delete, change, save, file, etc.
Dataplan is a Database-type filing system which allows the user to access, sort and print information as it is required. After loading, you will be presented with a menu of options. A brief guide to these is given below.
0 = Quit
Exit the Program.
1 = Auto File Set
This should be set before starting to enter data. It will, if set, organise the records in alphabetical order according to the entry in Slot 1.
2 = Set Column Titles
You are asked to input the number of columns of information you wish to store. Next you should input the width of the identity column. The identity column is the first column and is so called because the program uses the information in this column to identify that record. Thus, for example, if you want the identifier to be a name, you should allow a column width of approximately 12 (few people have names with more than 12 letters). Next you should enter the column headings you require i.e. name, address, telephone, etc, up to a maximum of 10.
3 = Set Column Tab Stops
This does not affect the screen display, but is of use when you wish to output to a printer. Using this command will display the column titles and you are asked to set the required tab value for each of them.
4 = Set Printer Mode
You will be asked whether you are using an 80 or 132 characters/line printer. (This is for use with Epsom M x 80 printer.)
5 = Enter Data
The column titles will appear on screen. Enter the required data for each column. If you do not wish to enter anything in a column then press ENTER and the cursor will move to the next slot. Pressing @ in slot 1 causes the program to return to the menu.
6 = Display File
This function will allow you to access individual record slots and examine them. The contents of slot 1 will be displayed, as will the contents of whichever column slot you command.
7 = Get or Edit File
Using the function you can search for any file by inputting the contents of the identifier column (i.e. if column title is name you might input John) - The computer will then search and display the appropriate file.
The following utilities are also available to allow you to edit the supplied screens of this game:
