Linked reviews are available to view in full on this site.
BBC Micro And Electron Book (McGraw) (BBC/Electron)
This rather lacks depth and only adds to the pile of general introductions to the machines that out there, none of them able to be comprehensive or up to date.
Whist Challenge & Bridge Challenge (Livewire) (BBC/Electron)
I find it hard to believe that card games cannot be simulated with much greater playing strength than Live Wire have achieved... I really cannot recommend these programs for any significant entertainment or educational value.
One Last Game (Bevan) (BBC/Electron)
This is quite well put together but for originality, nought out of ten.
Village Of The Lost Souls (Magus) (BBC B/B+/Master 128)
An interesting and challenging adventure game. Not for beginners, but recommended for the seasoned campaigner.
The Programmer's Troubleshooting Guide (Century) (BBC/Electron)
The enthusiast will learn nothing from this book and the beginner will regret buying it when he compares it to some older but better introductions.
Video's Revenge (Budgie) (Acorn Electron)
The general presentation is excellent with title pages and high score charts that slide on and off the screen.
Replay (Vine Micros) (BBC Model B)
A pretty marvellous device, more than a toy for those who have to document software, very useful if you can only buy a tape version of a program (it doesn't matter what nooks and crannies the code is packed into) and a good opportunity to have fun with the screens of your choice.
Match Day (Ocean) (BBC Model B)
A real winner... It's great running down the wing looking to centre the ball and your first goal, well, a dream come true!
Computer Spreadsheets (BBCSoft/BBC Publications) (BBC Model B)
Great value if you are hooked on spreadsheets.
Practical Hardware Projects (Century) (BBC Model B)
Because the projects are based on the author's practical experience, they should prove ideal for the classroom with one team debugging the software, and another laying out component on Veroboard, then coming together to test and use the resulting device.
