Storm Breaks Over Camputers

There were stormy exchanges at last week's creditors' meeting called to discuss the affairs of Camputers Ltd, maker of the Lynx micros.

Stanley Charles, company chairman, repeatedly resisted attempts by the largest creditors to appoint an independent liquidator. Eventually it was agreed to appoint two, one chosen by Camputers and the other - from accountancy firm Cork Gulley - chosen by the other creditors.

In addition a committee of inspection was appointed to oversee the winding-up of the company.

Camputers told creditors that its total debts amounted to £1.8 million. Of this £877,000 was due to the parent company, Camputers PLC, and the remainder to a variety of trade creditors.

Total assets were estimated at £94,250.
