Identify Europe

Europe consists of 27 countries and 17 seas. There, it does have some educational value. I didn't know that until I tried this program.

Like so much educational software, this is interesting and well-structured practice in reproducing information previously committed to memory.

It is in two parts, one tests countries and/or capitals and the other, seas. There is an excellent hi-res map of Europe and the multi-choice test allows you to choose how many guesses are allowed from the alternatives, and how many questions are in the test. The handling of wrong answers is good. If you answer that Zurich is the capital of Switzerland, you get: "No, but Zurich is in Switzerland".

My only criticism is about the demonstration option. Nice to have one, but it's too like the actual test. It waits for an answer, then supplies you with the right answer after a few seconds. It doesn't example what's happening or demonstrate what happens to a mistake.

But really, the printed instructions are so full that I shouldn't complain.
