Now here's an adventure game that will stretch a few minds! French On The Run is an educational program designed to test and improve your French - sounds boring?

Well, it's not! You take the part of an RAF officer in wartime France trying to get back to the UK after delivering a message to the Resistance - one slip in your French and the Gestapo will pounce on you. Each test you face gives you a choice of five responses - say, for buying a rail ticket or ordering a meal. Choose your response and wait and see if your poor French has given you away.

Yet it's not that simple! As well as trying to pass yourself off as French, you must also choose the right course of action to complete your mission. Four routes in all add up to an impressive package that should find a ready audience outside schoolchildren studying 'O' level French (about the level required).

Do try this - you might be as pleasantly surprised as I was at how enjoyable the program is.
